Common fixes
OldMate cannot hear me
Open iOS Settings, find OldMate, and enable Microphone access. Return to OldMate, keep it in the foreground, and try a short recording in a quieter place. The app shows a clear listening state and automatically stops a recording at its time limit.
A recording will not transcribe or organise
Transcription and enrichment require an internet connection, a valid signed-in session, and permission for OpenAI processing. Check your connection, sign in again if asked, and review Settings → Privacy & AI before retrying. OldMate's production backend must remain available while Apple reviews the app.
I did not receive a confirmation email
Check spam or junk folders and confirm that the address was typed correctly. On OldMate's Check your inbox screen, tap Send it again — there is a short wait between sends, and the screen says how long. If you have already left that screen, sign in with the same address and OldMate will bring you back to it. If you cannot remember your password, tap Forgot your password? on the sign-in screen and use the link sent to your inbox. Support will never ask you to send a password.
Where is my relationship memory stored?
Saved contacts, notes, transcripts, and recordings are stored by the app on your iPhone, and that is the copy OldMate reads as you use it. If you turn on backup, a copy is also held in your OldMate account so a new iPhone can restore it. Online services process audio and text when you use AI features. See the Privacy Policy for what the backed-up copy contains and where it is held.
How do I turn backup on or off?
Backup is off until you turn it on, in OldMate's settings. It is a separate permission from AI processing, so allowing OpenAI processing does not switch it on. Turning it off stops further transfers and offers to delete the copy OldMate is holding, ticked by default; taking that option removes your backed-up rows and recordings from our servers and leaves everything on your iPhone alone. See Privacy Choices.
How do I remove a note or contact?
Open the relevant contact and use its delete control. Deleting a contact also removes its saved notes and audio from the app's current local data, and from your backed-up copy on the next catch-up if backup is on. This is different from deleting your OldMate account.
How do I delete my account?
Open Settings → Delete account, confirm the permanent deletion, and re-enter your password if asked. OldMate removes that user's local contacts, notes, generated fields, caches, recordings, and permission records, then every recording held in your account's storage folder, then the Supabase authentication account itself, which takes any backed-up copy with it. If you have lost app access, follow the recovery instructions on Privacy Choices.
